As far as I understand things, even though the painting itself may be considered "public domain", reproductions of these works may be copyrighted. IMHO someone should contact the site owner for permission or to understand the use {{User:FrJohn/sig}} : This image is from [[Wikipedia:Image:Siege of Constantinople.jpg|Wikipedia]] and also found on [[Commons:Image:Siege of Constantinople.jpg|Wikimedia Commons]], which notes that "The two-dimensional work of art depicted in this image is in the public domain worldwide due to the date of death of its author, or due to its date of publication. Thus, this reproduction of the work is also in the public domain. This applies to reproductions created in the United States (see Bridgeman Art Library v.
